I've seen where someone on here actually stuffed a 315 onto an 8" rim before... looked like warmed over ass though, and it's not a good thing to do. You'll get worse traction with that combo than you would from a 275 on a 9" Cobra rim.

i wouldnt recomend going with a 315 (12.5") tire on a 9 in wheel...you wont get as good traction and you run the risk of the tire comming off the wheel, or it leaking...go with a 285/40 or 275/40...or just buy the 03 cobra replica wheels that a 10.5 wide...thats whats on my car with summitoma htrz 315's...<---the tires were $99 ea from tire rack

+1. That's what I have, the 10.5" replica rim. I can't imagine someone trying to fit a 315 tire on a stock rim. That's just crazy!

I think a 315/35/17 nitto drag radial will fit the 9" rims. The nittos run a little more narrow that most 315s. That's what I have read.

275 is the max that I would go.

285/40's look good on a 9in wheel, and they arent too much wider than a 275. but those would be my limit on a 9 in wheel...i had 10.5" bullet replicas on my 98 cobra and when i traded it in the dealership put 275/40's on the 10.5" wheel...talk about retarded...i heard the guy that bought it fish-tailed it into a pole , when the tire got peeled off the wheel going around a corner..lol..but it looked halarious

Thanks for the info guys. I wanted to upgrade my wheels at the same time but Im being forced to put new tires on it now since the rear alignment is outta whack. Think Ill stick with the 275s untill I get the 10.5 inch rims.
