Depending on the cam 30rwhp.
If you go real aggressive your gas mileage will really suffer. Cams usually are done to round out your build for good gains. The more you have done the more you stand to gain from them. |

For the money for cams, just go with a blower. There is just no logical choice to go the other route unless you just want that 'NA Power' and want to spray a big shot of juice.

when you swap out cams, if you want that big cam sound, you will have to change valve springs etc, theres alot more hidden fee's then just the cams, I think it comes out to around 1600K to do cams, because of other nescerry upgrades

The "big cam sound" will also cause you to have to change cams for the blower. You rough idle cams are generaly N/A cams and are not good for boosted cars. If you want little bit rougher idle with some decent gains and still have a great cam for boost then go with the GT supercar cams. They are less than $500 and you don't need new valve springs. It is just a drop in setup.

Yea but they are usualy very aggressive like stage 3+'s. the lobe seperation is tight on the N/A cams thats what the roughness is and thats not what you want with a blower cam. But like I said the GT cams are a good mid level cam and they are an upgrade to the stock setup. Alot higher lift and good profile.

Just makin sure, but you do realize that even with big cams in a modular engine like yours, its not gonna have that lope like a big cammed pushrod motor right? Not tryin to be a smartass, I just wouldnt want you to spend a load of money on cams and not have that lopey idle.

why wouldn't it? the same concepts apply, you just have to have the right cams. Here is proof to back it up. and here is mine with the GT cams. Not a huge lumpy idle but it rougher than stock

Thats because of cam selection. you can get that sound out of a modular engine it just usualy isn't the best way to make power. you can make just about any car sound rough like that with the right cam selection.

If you are gonna go boost later then refer to my other post about boost cams not being the choppy cams. If you have money to burn then buy N/A cams now and boost cams later. Crower stage 2's Hitech stage 2's, and sean hyland cams will be choppy but suck for boost. So just keep that in mind.
