Question about a blower setup
So as most of you know I'm in the process of building my engine. So here's a question that I have. If I were to build my car for a blower, and not install the blower, would it hurt the car to drive it without the blower?

No. It all comes down to how much boost you are gonna push and what CR you choose. that will determine how much N/A power you have. For example if you wanna go big boost and you go with like 9-9.5:1 CR for a good boost setup then you will not have as much N/A power. Likewise if you choose cams that are specificly boost cams then you will not be as powerful N/A.

That is what I figured. I have been considering a FI setup, with GT cams, and lower compression. With a 2.3 Whipple pushing around 15psi

i'm actually in the process of doing that right now. i wiped a rod bearing last year, and when i sourced parts, i went with 17cc dish pistons (same as stock for GT's). along with the overbore (0.020"), my compression sits at about 9.7:1. i'm setting it up for a centri blower, but i also didn't want the car to be a dog while still n/a. as for cams, i plan on going with blower cams because i am going FI and i don't feel like doing cams twice...

It's just a thought, I haven't made my mind up yet. I like FI because I can make more power.
but otherwise I love N/A cars. I want my cake and to eat it too. I want a nasty N/A cam wth about 600+ rwhp. I was thinking about a nitrous setup.

you can, you just have to be smart on what you put in the motor. you can make a hard running n/a motor, but if you put stuff together that just dont work together then you will regret it.

10:1 with a good boost cam and hogged out heads, then you have decent N/A power and you can run a shit ton of spray. Then if you ever go FI you will still be kinda low enough (right on the edge if you ask me) to run a decent amount of boost. Just another thought to mull around in that already packed head. LOL

just be careful on what blower cam you install. you install a positive displaccement blower cam in it, then you will hold yourself back a little on top end hp. a centri blower cam will work just fine with juice, and not hold you back as much n/a.

I've built cars before with my dad, but it was never this stressful.

It was easy, I had the lightning and we did boltons, ported blower, pulley and tune. When I had the LS1, it was easy enough too, we stroked it, and added a 175shot of juice. I had the Duramax it was even easier, just add a bigger turbo and injectors.
With this car there are a ton options. All which are great.

Him and I are a bit scared of them, so we're letting Modular Performance assemble the engine. Walsh Motorsports is doing the tuning, blower (if I go FI), and a few ither tweaks.

I'll tackle any FE Ford engine, LS engine or Mopar, but keep me away form modulars. I learned my lesson a while back. I had a 97 F-150 with a 4.6 that I played with and messed up. I had to have PHP go in there and fix it and install a Pro Charger.
