2 diff dynos 2 totally diff readings

sucks that the previous dyno i took the car (i wasn't there) the guy gtuned the car and gave me the dyno slip and showed the car made 488/478tq and yesterday just for shits an giggles since they were running a special, i took the car to another dyno and in the base run car made only 445/440tq, they both were dynojets and weather was pretty much the same if not warmer the first time, now why so much of a difference? its only been about 43 days

SAE smoothing maybe? What does the sheet say for both?

40hp can easily be due to different IAT and ECT temps.

no i wasn't there the first time, and no icing the ic, i think the dyno from yesterday is way off, idk maybe needs to be recalibrated, 445hp its freaking low for a ported, pullied 2.80 and 2 lb lower eaton, then he tuned to 475/481tq, and that was squeezing every little bit of fuel through stock pump and injectors, no more could be had, i was there and he added more timing too then what i had.

im sure the intercooler not being iced is part of the problem.

Dyno operators can make the dyno read whatever they want to. Thats why dyno's aren't a good indicator of what kind of power your car is making. They are good tuning tools but people rely on dyno #'s too much. I'm also not a big fan of icing the blower or putting ice in the I/C res. Kinda seems like cheating to me. Although I do ice my blower at the track. lol I took my Cobra to a local dyno day and my Stage IV ported, 2.93, 4# lower car put down 449rwhp and 479rwtq, no ice, no fans. With the Stage IV port and a 2.76 upper only my car put down 491/467 on a different dyno previously. So just for comparison a guy I know put his freshly built 347 stroker on the dyno and he put down 324rwhp and like 370 rwtq. Just a few weeks ago my car put down 486rwhp and 517 rwtq on yet another dyno also with no ice and no fans.. Just goes to show you the difference. Oh and one other point. Even the TIRES you use can cause different readings. Some Drag radials and slicks will show lower numbers than street tires due to the sidewall flex.

that sucks if the first tuner iced out the intercooler and didn't tell me, (just to read higher hp numbers), i should of been told, that deff could be why the numbers were off, I'm glad i stuck around this time,(without icing the i/c he got me 475) i learned something new, now i know a trick to be Faster On Race Day, so by just icing that sucker i should see maybe 10-15 extra ponies?

yes sir

according to the dynojet at RET, mine (nonported stock air tube, stock TB, stock plenum, 2.8 upper w/100mm idler, stock lower pulley) put down 11 more hp and 12 more tq to the rear wheels after draining and icing the intercooler

Ding, ding, ding, ding! Winner right here!

I don't yet know what your prize is, but you nailed it. A 40 HP difference is quite large but not unbelieavable when jumping from dyno to dyno.
