modular 5.4L

Hey guys, as you all know or may not know I am in Iraq, saving money like crazy right now. I have come to a few conclusions on what I want to do to my car when I return. I was reading about the 5.4L black and saw that the heads on my 4V cobra are compatible. Now with that said do any of you know if the other parts including the intake manifold are compatible as well. Because I am going to replace the rotating assembly, the heads and everything in them anyways and I found a 5.4L for 500 bucks. Thanks to all who respond.

there are things that can be swaped over but sometimes there are minor problems like not exact fitting but they can be worked out... i can remember if the intake works but if it doesnt im sure there are some adapter plates that would work

Are you keeping it N/A? Or is forced induction in the future? These are the major issues that need to be addressed first before you decide which heads and intake combo to use.

5.4

N/A all the way. I was thinking forced induction but love the N/A option. But this option isn't 100% yet, just looking for the best option and the safest option for my car but try to get the most amount of power.

Are you sure about the intake being compatible? I thought it was the only thing other than a midpipe that wasn't. If you're going N/A look into a Sullivan intake.

If you're going to do then get a custom sheetmetal intake, Cobra R or FR500 heads. You can work navigator heads.

I would absolutely love to find R heads......

Damn ford for creating the most bad ass 4v heads and then pushing the FR500 crap down our throats as the high quality heads....

Yes the FR500 heads rock but damn the modular 4 valves would really benefit from some easily obtainable R heads.

Eww.

Look for Ford BA Falcon XR8 heads.....

Slightly updated R heads with straighter air flow. I believe these are the best heads available before being touched.

Then checkout the intake from this.... I believe thats also bitchin

That intake doesn't fit. It was made in Australia. Look at where the airbox is and then think what is there on our cars. A guy on mach1registry that goes by birdman sells an American version of the 290.

Yeah I guess I wasnt too specific but people are getting these to work on our cars. I didnt want to get into specifics since I dont have all the info.

They are pretty bad ass from what I've heard though, and might be cheaper since they were a bit more mass produced than the Cobra R parts.

Staying N/A? Just run the navi heads. Keep it simple and cheap. The navi heads will do whatever you need them too, and they dont cost anything. As far as intake options, its small for the 5.4s. The Sullivan intake is probably the best choice, with a wilson 90 degree elblow and accufab throttle body.

This is assuming you want more than 350rwhp.

^^^ Although they are nice intakes, they are also pricey. If your looking to save money, you can buy a set of adapter plates so you can run a 99-01 Cobra intake with the navi heads. That would probably be the cheapest route.

Another option for 4v cylinder heads are the ford GT heads. They are pricey but they make amazing horsepower
