Road to the 12s

there have been those who seem to be skeptical when i claim a certain mod makes a certain improvement in et or those that don't believe i went 12s with a stock motor. here are the timeslips from a few years ago when i was experimenting with my stock 87 5.0 5 speed coupe. the car had a bone stock motor and a i've detailed its mods in various threads but i'll do it again
stock motor ( speed density ) k and n drop in replacement panel air filter stock air box and tubing
alum d/s
373s
strut tower and lower g load braces, subframes
lowering springs, tokico blue shocks , ( update ) upper and lower control arms
adj fuel pressure regulator
shortie headers
american thunder cat back

the car started out with a stock h pipe and chrome ponies with stock tires

i got beat by a non turbo neon on my first pass ( i still haven't lived that one down )

there are gaps in the number sequence because i had nitrous on the car and i chose not to include the nitrous passes so no one will get confused.

i removed the belt , for these next 2 passes check out the mph improvement from 97 to 101

ditched the chrome ponies, added weld rims 15 x 3 and 15 x 8 with bfg 275 50 15s, again check out the difference in mph from 1 slip to the other when i removed the belt for the 2 nd pass ( same night less then an hour apart )

i only had 7 degrees of timing this pass and no belt

bumped to 12 degrees no belt

i put on an off road h pipe , no belt

played with tire pressure

finally

the guy i bought the car from had installed all the braces and suspension. it wouldn't transfer weight worth a damn. the car handled like a trans am and had 0 body roll. oh yeah, it did have upper and lower arms. i forgot about that. i don't remember which brand they were but i recall them being red. i better update the first post. i finally removed the front sway bar and that's what got me into the 12s i believe

I think the doubts were with the 110+ mph trap speeds

Dont think anyone was skeptical...........

Dont have to try and prove anything.....

Just turn the cheek and keep puttin down the numbers.....

My car was running 108 mph at 12.7's.....stock hci and 4.10's

Dont know why the mph was so high

pretty amazing that technology from the 80's when it seemed cars were all dogs yet ford makes a fox body that can run 12's almost completely stock. Typical Ford junk i suppose
