squeaking noise?

For the past couple days i've been hearing this high pitched squeaking noise in my engine bay. I think hte car only does it at idle but i'm not too sure because my exhaust is pretty loud when driving. I popped the hood when the car was running yesterday and it sounded like it was coming right where the alternator was. Almost like its the alternator itself or the little fan on the alternator. Is the alternator going bad? Or is it my belt squeaking? I know my car needs a new belt soon but i don't know why the noise would come from just right around the alternator. Anyone know?

It could being the alt just take off and take it to your local part store and get it checked.

spray a little belt dressing on it, if it doesn't quit, it's not the belt....then check the alternator and idler pulley.

Naah I don't like belt dressing. I'm gonna take off the belt and clean it with dish soap. I need a new belt anyways so even if it's not the belt I'm gonna get a new one anyways lol. If the noise doesn't go away, I'm gonna have my alternator checked out.

I used a Gatorback poly-v belt. It desn't seem to sqeak anymore but I haven't driven it much since I put the belt on. And I did think to spin the alternator pulley and no squeak at all. So Maybe it was the belt? I'll let you guys know if it squeaks after I drive it some today
