Recieved a free explorer motor

It came out of a 97 and it was run hot and damaged some of the pistons. The heads are 4 bar gt40p's and I was wondering what I should do to them before installing. I was thinking about taking them to the machine shop and having them milled and checked out there. I am going to install a trickflow spring kit and I want to do a minor hand port/polish job myself. What kind of roller rockers do these heads require? I have BBK long tubes so I will find out for myself the question of if they will work with P heads. And is the block a roller block? Would it be a good candidate for a 347 build?

Make sure to check the heads for cracks, if it got that hot "to damage pistons" it probably cracked the heads also.

I forgot to add that the P heads IMO are way to small for a stroker.

Yeah what I was thinking is run the P heads for a while on my stock block and build a 347 out of the explorer motor with trickflow or eddie heads. I was wondering how strong the explorer 302's are

dude, take my advise on the BBKs and forget it! the dude i got my Ps from ditched them because of all the hassle from the BBK longtubes. MAC longtubes fit pretty nice but plug insulators are a good idea
