2.3 to 5.0 Engine swap

I built up a HO 5.0 recently for a fox body stang, my plan being to find a GT or a 5.0 LX latter when i was more ready to install the motor; however bad times arouse. I got laid off my job leaving things like buying old muscle cars in less than first place behind trivial things such as eating and having a roof over my head. So that left me with plan B which is to swap my 2.3 out of my 1987 Mustang LX (i call it the Shutlen pony) with my 1991 5.0 from a GT. I'm wondering if anyone has done a four popper to 5.0 swap before and i would really appreciate your advice

Humbly Yours,

Joe

try the search function at the top of the page. you should be able to find several threads that might answer some of your questions. one thing for sure you're gonna want to swap that 7.5" rear end for an 8.8"

What suspension problems did you run into? Will the stock 5 speed work with the 5.0, or do i need a different bell-housing or what? thanks for replying

you need a 5.0bellhousing the trans will work but it is a time bomb also is the rear, if you plan on driving the car hard. The car will sit real low if you keep the 4 cyl. springs. plus you are gonna need a whole lot of other stuff just to get the car running best bet is to find a wrecked 5.0. If can you get the same year or newer fox all the wiring is plug and play, the older cars wiring harness have the fuel pump relay under the driver seat so you will have to modd the harnes to make it work

Do you have a 91 5.0 harness with the brown 8 pin plug?

So you're saying that the wiring harness in the 87 will be different than the 91? What trans do you recommend? If a better option is to just wait for another 5.0 for sale to buy i will, but they're becoming increasingly more rare it seems like, everyone wants to hold on to theirs.

The 7.5 will live for a long time. I've beaten the crap of the 7.5 and it still lived. You don't need to mod the wiring harness. You can just wire the fuel pump to a toggle switch (Good for theft also) and then buy a painless Fuel pump relay so the fuel pump won't be on all the time.

I wasnt going to keep the 7.5 rear end. I already had a 8.8 with 4.10 gears. Just wanting to know if what people say about the rear end true or false. Which came out to be false. People always say 7.5 will break easy. They never even tried it.

I was just curious cause I need the newer harness with the fuel pump relay under the hood and you need the one I have in my 88. I'm just going to try to find it at a wrecking yard now that I'm home............if the snow would clear up.
