Btw i know this is prob a stupid question, but when you slid in your cam, ( or anytime ya replace it ) Do any or all or you guys replace the Cam barrings? Im just wondering, b/c im trying to save up for a new cam and heads, but i was just wondering if changing the cam barrings is required. And also how much tolerance are you given in the spacing of these barrings to the cam, it has to be tight right? Like .0001?(10 thousandths of an inch)? Or am i wrong here. Just wondering. thanks.

I've only ever replaced the cam bearings if the motor is out of the car. The cam doesn't have the same load on it as does say the crank and rods, so you are less likely to wipe a bearing out. Plus it is a super PITA to try and change them with the motor in the car. The end play of the cam is more important that the bearing clearance.

I replaced it, but apparently the way I had it clocked cause it to have a slight angle on the starter and it caused some problems for the starter (like it destroyed itself).

Basically the solenoid was just up against the motor and I guess that caused enough problems to ruin the starter. Or I just got a bad unit from the factory. I'm not sure. The gear was rubbing against the housing of the starter when I removed it.

Lame. I just sent it back to summit today, so we'll see if they send me a new one.

No you don't need to change the cam bearings, normaly if you pull the motor and do complete rebiuld you would but not in car swap they last a long time.

and .0001 is 1 tenth of 1 thousanths and if you mean .010 that's pretty sloppy

So finished up a lot of wiring.

Electric fan, purge kit, innovate wideband, bottle heater. A word to the wise, don't try to wire all those at the same time.

Ready for a my new starter...
