hi yall.ok so if i get a 1990 or 1992 car with no title is there any way i can get a title from the courthouse or anything?

You can send away for a "lost title" from the DMV. At least that's what you can do in Pa

i'm pretty sure the person who name is on the present title for the car has to do all that!

it usually is not a fun process to do a title search from dmv or whatever you have where you live. make sure you get the car for free because remember the last person on the title owns the car and if they want it legally I dont see why whey could not take possesion of it unless there laws where you live to prevent it. if there are not then you are out dollars. check your local laws on how to perform this search

Just don't do any legal paper work until the owner does a title search and has it "in hand".
Even if the car is free, I would write up a paper between you and the owner stating that the car is YOURS and have it signed by both you, the owner and stamped by a notory.

If you know a guy at an auto shop. Ask them, what they can do is... hold the car for work perform and non payment. After certain amount of time, (not sure you can ask) they can get papers of ownership and sell it to you for $1 if they want legally, you buy it from them and reg it and the title comes to you.

Thats provided the person that he is gettin the car from is the last title holder. From what I got he dont know who the last title holder is..If in fact the person he is getting the car from was the last title holder all he has to do is request a new one..

I have yet to understand how people manage to lose important documents such as a vehical title. You would think they would lock up or store important papers away somewhere safe
