power steering
how do you drain the p/s system... i need to replace the p/s fluid with atf

On mine, I had to buy this nifty kerosene-like pump that had a small electric motor on it. You stick the tube all the way down to the lowest point in the resavior and you turn it on. It pumps the fluid out the out-put tube into a bucket or catch pan. Why would you want to put ATF in your power steering pump anyways???

oh i have to suck it out, i thought there would be a drain plug, guess not.
thats what ford recomends, thats why most fords make that whine sound when you turn the wheel

Oh. I never heard that. So if you replace your P/S fluid with ATF it is supposedly able to give better performance? If this is true, I will do it too. LOL

not better thats with ford p/s pumps are suppose to use, i saw it in a post not to long ago on here about the atf and i double checked in my haynes manual and it says to use atf
