unless he is going to put some effort in making the whole motor look good i wouldn't paint anything

how? can you show me proof of this? what does the dye of the paint have to do with the heat disapation?. yes black absorbs light better but how much light is in the engine bay?

the color of the paint has nothing to do with how the heat will radiate away from an engine. compared to a bare metal surface yes a painted surface will better disappate heat due to the chemical compuund of the paint but has nothing to do with the color spectrum. there has been several tests done and there is no difference between a black painted surface compared to a white painted surface when it comes to cooling.

and those dam heads are still a bright ass blue on my car, the paints held up very well

I've seen that somewhere also. The turbo guys paint the hot side piping with a flat black paint to dissipate heat. I'll try and find and article. I don't think the color matters. I think i saw on horsepower tv where they painted an intake white to dissipate heat.

. I was just thinking about Mythbusters the other day. My Aunt was telling the kids not to jump around because she was baking a cake and did not want it to collapse. I've never seen it happen. I thought that would be a good episode.
