Opinions and Questions. [lots of pictures]

So my friend and I went to look at this fox body. This guy is selling it for 1,000.00 because he has a baby on the way and had to buy a house (plus he's got about 5 other cars he's working on at the same time). I got the idea he was a chevy guy from the three built camaros sitting beside this mustang. It has a 8.8 rear end, 3.73 gears, built auto tranny with a B&M slapstick. He said it had a 351 in it, but I'm not sure how to tell a 302 from a 351. Another guy said it was a 302, but the guy who builds Ford engines said it was a 351W. I personally can't tell, since I'm a mod guy. The carb is a bit too small for it, so it chokes up in high RPMs, but it runs really strong. He did a big burnout and drove it around a few blocks to show us it runs fine. The body doesn't have any dents in it and the interior is almost flawless. We'd really just like to know if it's a good deal and if anyone can tell by these amazingly awesome pictures what size that engine really is. We don't have the car yet and it's about 30 minutes away, so we don't have any numbers. Opinions?

Oh, the hood is dented and the windshield is cracked from where the hood popped up on him.

Also the molding and the missing handles are in the backseat, they were taken off because he was going to paint it, but never did. So all that missing stuff on the outside is there and not broken or lost.

That looks like speedstang302's old car. If you measure from the center of the crank to the part where the heads mate to the block and it's 8.2" it's a 302. If it's 9.5" it's 351. There's a way to tell by looking at the waterpump too but I can't remember exactly but I'm sure someone will chime in.

Awesome, this is what I want is for people to give me opinions, it's going to be my friend's first mustang. He's getting off the Japanese bandwagon all our friends are on. So if he gets it and all goes ok, we'll have a new addition to our family.

Its probably worth $1000 but you will have your work cut out for you. That thing is a wreck.

i'd get it, especially if it runs as good as you say it does. However, don't expect to just jump in it and have it run like a new car from the get go, other then the windshield and body work it's gonna need at least a heater core. It kinda looks like somewhat of a hack job but like i said i'd still get it.
