Engine Popping

I am from Ohio but I moved out to Cali for the Marines. So I went from 93 oct to 91 oct.I just put in a pro bullit distributor and 6al ignition and a A9S computer. The timing is set at 13 deg and i just changed the spark plugs. When i get on it it sometimes go's like pop pop and then gets on it. What should i do to fix this problem? I got a 88 5.0 bored .30 over with bbk cold air, 70mm mass air and throttle body, GT 40 Upper and lower intake, Edlebrock preformer aluminum heads, 24lbs fuel injectors, 155lph fuel pump, Hooker headers, bbk h-pipe, flowmaster exhaust, adj fuel pressure regulator, pro bullit distributor and 6al ignition.

set the timing back to 10 degrees

+1, do that and see if the popping goes away.

When did it start popping? After you put the new ignition components in? Finding out when the problem started will help greatly in determining the problem and what to do to fix it. Otherwise you might be chasing your tail for a while.

heres my 2 cents.......... make damn sure that the 6al box has a real good ground..................

well the 6AL is under the driver seat and i ran the same gage wire all the way to the battery for the positive and negative. The car did pop before the box but the car ran like shit before because the A9L computer took a dump on me and during that I put in the pro bullit dis. but it ran like shit because of the EEC so i dont really know when it started but I am going to replace the plug wires if that doesnt work then i am going to set the timing back if that doesnt work i am going to hook up some C-4 to it

oh yeah !!!!!!!! i have got the same setup you have also got to use the msd blaster2 coil you must have 50'0000 volts on it......i used all msd on mine so far no problems!!!!!!!!! knock on wood!
