351w swap and guages question.
So my friend is new here, and we've made a few threads about his fox body. It has a 351w swapped into it. It was originally an LX. The gauges were never hooked back up after the swap. We've looked all over the internet and can't find anything about hooking the gauges back up with that motor. We don't know what year the motor actually is, but it is a carbureted 351w. If anyone can help with that it would help a lot. We've never driven automatics, so we have no idea how to launch or to shift this thing. We started a thread about it and we were asked about the powerband and all that, which we have no way of really knowing. We're kind of learning things by feeling around in the dark with this car. Gauges would definitely help.

the only guages that work on my factory dash after my swap are: fuel level, alt, and speedo. All the rest I replaced with autometer.

The most important thing u guys need to do right now, is change the oil, add oil psi guage, and coolant temp. Does the car have 3 gears or 4? Probably a c4 in it, but no matter, still need to get a trans cooler on it. Then a Tach, even if ya'll just get some cheap mechanical guages from ur local parts store, u are closer to knowing what is really going on with this new beast. I almost want to send him this carb, just to see a vid of a race against the last winner, with a different outcome.

thats cool. I hope you guys don't get a demon! They are a nightmare. Just get a hp holley(4150), but you have got ur work cut out for u tuning it. Once its right though, your good. Get a 750, it doesn't need more than that.

Right now he's getting a quadrajet. A guy we know has one that he hasn't ever used and he's selling it for 150.00 with the adapter, so that's what we're getting right now.

it will work. not too bad for a mild car. tell him to keep his eyes peeled for a hp 4150 carb in 750cfm flavor, and he can have it rebuilt by prosystems and it will be perfect.

the other gauge is some temp gauge goes up to 285 not sure whatexactly its for i am looking for a 2in tac to put in its place

I am no carb tuner! I ordered mine from Patrick James at Prosystems,(custom) and put it on. Wide band says all is perfect, and had to set the idle is all. Just don't get a demon.

That's the biggest mistake he can make. The 600 Holley that is on it right now is better than any quadratoilet.

Except it's only about half of the Holley and it's not barely working, just enough to keep the car going under acceleration, top end it nose dives and it won't idle, there's not even any flaps on it.

it is probably a 4160, like the one I have for sale, and does not need the flap in the air horn. Hell, mine was milled off by QFT. I think you should just send me a buck fity and I will ship this one to you. It is a 536 dolla carb. That 150 bucks could also get the one you have rebuilt.
