whats the difference between the 98 camaro z28/ss and the 02 camaro z28/ss
how would they match up against a 99-04 mustang gt.. stock for stock

the 98-02 Camaros, SS camaros, and Z28 camaros all came with the LS1 motor and either a 6 speed trans or a 4L60E automatic trans. Stock for stock i think the LS1 car would take the 99-04 mustangs. ive seen stock LS1 cars turn low 13 second times bone stock. It just depends on the driver I guess, and what trans is in each car.

hate to say it, but LS1s own most mustangs stock for stock. BASTARDS!
But if you could really drive and the guy in the camaro really sucks, you could take him.

Maybe its just me, but they destroy my stock 5.0. Any other stockers out there getting killed?

i can hang with most stock auto LS1 cars with my stock motor mustang, but theres a few LS1 cars that have good drivers that pass me.

one guy had low gears and got me by about 5 lengths. These gears had to be lower than 4:10s. I think he shifted 10 times!

ls1 cars 60 foot like their job when they hook, and are all bussiness all the way out the back door too. they deffinatly drag alot of cars down the 1/4 stock to stock. but for 20,000 it should.

i think ford should of offered a 99+ GT with a 5.4 liter as an option. could of gave a better race against the LS1 cars.

the motor is underrated, they claim 300 at the crank, all my friends dyno 290-310 on bone stock cars, plus, look at a dyno for a stock one, hp and torque just keep climbing to redline.

Like GM or not they did it way right with the LS series

A lot of the 00 or 01 zs came with ls6 intakes stock. Gm ran out of the ls1 intakes. Its a nasty setup, my buddy has one and its nasty quick stock. Mid to low 13s

I am fairly sure that an 05 would out run the 02 ls1, cuz i have taken them down bone stock in my dad's 05, i dunno about the 98 ls1.

LS1 cars are impressive. There are a couple around here that run low 12s with just a loose converter and slicks. GM did a hell of a job with that car.
