Track Results

I went to the track to day. Finally got a chance to test the slicks. I managed a 1.7 sixty and ran 12.8 at 106 with a 8.1 in the 1/8 mile. I thought i would get a better sixty. I launched at 3500 rpms and on my last pass I launched at 4000 and still got a 1.7 sixty. My boy said the rear was squatting a lot. I could feel it too because i was geting thrown back into the seat but it did not seem like i was moving for a second. The car ran good i ran my best times today. I know there is a few more tenths left in it. I might have to try for a 5000 rpm launch. I also have nitrous for the car I have to wire it back up. I hope to try it out next week. Slicks feel so much different from drag radials i wish i would have gotten them sooner. I also snapped a few pics of the car while i was there.

6000! I was scared to do 4000.lol I still have stock axles and transmission. I have a set of 31 spline and a rebuilt diff waiting to go in. Once I get those in i'll probably up the rpm's. Is that what you launch at?

Race is breakin.....but if you do have the 31 splines then get them in....just broke my axle last track attack.

I launch at 6000.....will move higher once the combo needs it and a new limiter is in place

I saw your post of the broke axles. Your probably right about the 6000 rpm launch. I started out at 3000 and was getting 1.8 sixty's when i went to 4000 that's when i got the 1.7. It seems like every 1000 rpm you go up it takes a tenth of your sixty foot.

You might want to change you stock shocks you to help the squating. I have tokico blues, cheap but the ride is alot stiffer now.

change springs, drop the sway bar 90/10's in front 50/50's in the rear. if it bog's increase your air pressure (tires) until it spins just a little this will be better then it falling completely on it's face if it is truly bogging

Is the suspension squating or are the tires squating? What pressure did you have in the slicks? It shouldn't be squating. That is probably hurting your 60 foot. I'm not familiar with those control arms. Do you have a link to a website with them? They might be causing the squat. The springs and everything else will work good for you. Adjustable shocks would help a little bit.

Thanks. I played with the nitrous at the track once. The car wasn't running good that day on a 125 shot it went 12.2 in the 1/4 i think i was only running 13.4 on motor that day. It was like 90 degrees out also and my sixty foot was crappy.

My air pressure was at 20 psi. I have to pay more attention to see if it was actually bogging. This is my first time on the slicks so i'm relearning how to drive the car.

I'm actually not sure if it's squatting now. I talked to my boy again and he said it may have been the tires squating and not the suspension. I'll probably let hin drive it so I can see what it's doing. Factory Five makes the cobra kit car and their control arms are the same size as a foxbody. I bought them years ago. I'll try and find a link. They are just regular tubular control arms with polyurethane bushings.

Too much tire pressure. Try 12-14psi. 12psi has always been the sweet spot for me with small slicks.

Do you have stock upper control arms? Some double adjustable uppers would be helpful.

I have the factory five uppers and lowers. I'll try 12-14 psi. The car was not spinning at all at 20 though. I am worried about traction when i put the nitrous to it. I plan on spraying it off the line.
