Question

Head work

What heads are good for a 351w? Ive got a guy saying he will sell me some port and polished 351w heads, a set of 289 heads, or he will port and polish mine.

Any of that sound any good? Once again i dont know much about v8s but he said the 289 heads would lower my compression, dont i want higher compression?

Oh yea, i would be able to get any of that for little to nothing

What are you wanting out of the motor, what size combustion chambers do you have now or what head are you running now?

I'm pretty sure that a 289 head will have smaller chamber size then a 351 and that should drive up your compression

waste of time. If you are going to put a stock ford head on there, only one will do...351C heads

68 hipo 289 would do the trick also, but you have to fight some rich shelby owner for them

But do I need a higher compression? Would it be a decent mod, the 289 heads are off a 67

If your set on using a factory casting the best heads you can probably get for that windsor is the 1969-71 351W heads with 60cc cambers. Casting # C9OE-B or C9OE-D, pretty hard to find these though,

What are your goals? Hipo 289 in good shape $1000 min bare,
351c head takes a high dollar intake but then you have a Boss 302 minus the 4 bolt main. standard 351 head cheap but not much better then your stock heads. I think everyone will agree good set of aluminum heads will make from 225-500hp and everyone is happy

speed costs money how fast do you want to go?

Get as far away from that quadrajunk as you can. there are ton's of Holley style carbs on the market pick one of those in a 750ish cfm
