1999-2004 in a '93 LX
How hard is it to transplant the engine and AT from a 1999-2004 GT into a 1993 LX 5.0 notchback ?
Thanks...P. |

The '93 LX has 126k. I could rebuild but it would cost me more than a new 4.6 GT with AT. This would be my DD....and for those that are thinking AT??? My left arm is paralyzed
(in the line of duty at least) so AT is better for DD. However, my 331 is a 5 speed.

rebuilding it would not cost more than a new 4.6 and tranny, and i doubt it needs a rebuild unless its been abused

put a NOS sticker on it and it will run like new.....except with like 124 more hp....to the front wheels......in all seriousness though just rebuild what you have and even put an auto on that

you can definelty rebuild the 5.0 for a lot less than buy and swaping in a 4.6

depends on how much he can land a 4.6 with the AT behind it for...if its under 500 i'd say go for it..but anything really over 500..you could rebuild the 5.0 and the transmission in ur 93

after machining, rebuiding the heads and a full gasket set I hardly think you could do it all for 500 bucks.
125 to bore the block 75 to vat/clean/freeze plugs 80 deck the block for trueness if you reuse the rotating assembly 130 to grind the crank and refurbish the rods 250 min to recondition the heads 150 for a good felpro full engine gasket kit 710 and thats prob leaving stuff out. thats for a STOCK rebuild If you cant put it together thats another 250 min

yea for the price you're gonna pay for a 4.6 and AT (probably around 1500-2000) not to mention all the money to fab things up probably another 1500. you could build a HCI 306 for half that with 0 miles and have your AOD rebuilt.

The motor can just drop right in, just get a subframe from a 4.6 sn95 car. Sub frame should just bolt up, then drop the motor in or with the subframe, get the harness and computer etc etc. The physical part is actually very easy, its the wiring up gauges etc that gets tricky
