okay so i've had the car 6 months now and never had a single problem with it starting. I had to be in court this morning so i woke up drove to court the car ran fine...i stopped at the store on the way home it still started and ran fine..got home..sat around got ready to leave for work and all of sudden it won't start, battery is fine, the car cranks over just not starting. and you can hear the fuel pump when you turn the key before i try to crank it..any ideas of what to look for??

does it even sound like it wants to fire? its cranking it has fuel but sounds like its ignition related.. did you see if it has spark?

yea it sounds like it wants to start...just won't crank start, how should i check the spark?? pull the ignition wire off the dizzy?

pull one of the wires from a plug stick a screwdriver in it then put it bout 1/4" from a ground and have someone turn it over if it sparks your good

or plan B which is more fun have your buddy hold the metal of the screwdriver while you turn it over and you will know if it has park real fast...

i'm confused....had a neighbor come help me charge my battery because i ran it down trying to crank the car over so much...i let it sit for about 20 mins while i was doing that....and the car cranked right over. only thing i noticed is once it started after idling about 30 seconds the check engine light flickered and the the idle surged back an forth from 1200-1500 then went back down to around 700 where it normally idles.

maybe it started cuz it cooled off... like your tfi is goin out

i guess i mean the car had been sitting for about 2 hours after i got home though before i was leaving for work.

okay at least i made it to work now...but still having a problem....after that the car started i went back and post my previous post...came out side the car started right up. I drove it about a block up the road and noticed it running really rough. So i continued to drive it.. on the way to work stopped at a light went to pull off and the car died, at first i thought i just stalled out or something. So i tried to start it and it wouldn't start. Sat through the light Tried it again and it started fine. Pulled off from the light a lil rough but seemed okay about 5 mins up the road the car seemed to smooth out. So from another light i kept it in first and stomped it to see how it would react. the car pulled sorta rough up to around 5000 then all of a sudden car felt like it cut out for a second and rpms dropped back to around 4500 then pulled back to 5000 i immediatly let out in fear of breaking something. Then resumed normal driving cruising at around 1800 rpms the car would feel like it was cutting out every 20 or 30 seconds and rpms would drop slightly. that stopped after a couple of minutes and the car seemed okay. any ideas??

clogged fuel filter? after you sea foamed did you change it?

shoulda changed the spark plugs too

i haven't changed the plugs and i ran a whole can of seafoam through the gas tank back in july when i bought the car. But no i haven't changed the plugs.

id atleast look at them. its either going to be fuel, spark or a sensor.......

i'm thinking the distributor might be going bad...but not positive
