hypereutectic pistons

I have the opprotunity to get a fresh .030 block with pistons, dont know what type but my guess is there probably cast aluminum pistons. I know it well worth the cash for $125. What I'm wondering is how well will these pistons hold up to 100 shot or so of nitrous. I understand there garbage pistons in regards to material properties compared to a forged pistons. But can you get away with running these hypereutectic pistons with nitrous and without having a catastrophic falure.

nitrous will create a lot of cylinder pressure.cast and hyper pistons are usually built lighter with less material in the critical areas which can cause catastrophic failure.if you use em make sure your tune is spot on.that still doesnt mean the pistons still cant fail.

people say that...but i know personallly my best friend sprayed 175 shot with no tune on a stock 4.6 DOHC motor with bolt on's for about a year and a half, and never had a single problem from the pistons once we took the motor apart later...the pistons looked fine. only thing he ever did was he sprayed the nitrous before the MAF, used denso iridium plugs, and usually put in a couple gallons of cam2 when he sprayed the car.

Hypereutectic pistons get a bad rap. They hold up in most cases.
