me either ive checked the wire for corrosion all the way to the solenoid, checked all the connections, checked resistance. Everything i just dont see why the regulator wont kick on without grounding it out.

check to mounting for the starter...maybe its torked down to tight or its too loose..that what was wrong with my brother mustang, we replace the wires to it, and i pulled of the starter and we put it back in with a bolt that was only half threaded and wasnt tight enough...

your regulator only says how much. the stator says when. if you still have the stock alt then make sure your white wire on the plug is connecting well with the post. or if youve done the 3g upgrade make sure the same wire is connected well to the separate stator post. these alternators are internally regulated so if it works by grounding it out that may mean that you have a faulty alternator.

It does not have a bad alt, i know this for a fact both of them have been tested. And the signal wire is connecting fine. Like i said both plugs have been replaced. This car has not run in over 2 years while i have been building it. It was charging fine when i first got the car though.

well if it isn't charging there is obviously a problem with either the alternator or the wiring. unless your battery wont hold a charge. where are your alt wires run to? I know a lot of people have them on the solenoid (if yours has the separate starter solenoid) and its pretty common that they put the wire to the wrong side of the solenoid which will give a partial output but not charge. may want to make sure its going to the right side if applicable. But who knows.

check all the grounds, does the block have a good ground to chassis and battery?

Maybe a blown fusible link in the wiring connecting the activation circuit and the charging wire.
