Speedometer

Well fellas, while attempting to redo the heater core in my 88 Mustang GT, I've gotten the whole center console out , and basically the whole dash board comes off in almost one piece after you get a couple of trims off first. Well, in doing this, the one thing that was preventing me from having enough room to replace the heater core was the speedometer cable which was holding the dash board on. I didn't have the tool to disconnect it so i took those handy plyers and snipped that son of a bitch! I've gotten too far for that to be stopping me haha. I've made some good time though 3 hours. Not bad i guess.
Well now I'm kicking myself in the ass because i miss that speedometer. Can anyone give me any input on doing this? Besides for the dashboard having to come off once again, I've put 4/10 gears in the rear and want to match the speedometer up with the actual speed of the car. I was looking on summit for a cable and do not see one for a Ford T-5 transmission.

What kind should i get?
How do i match the speed up with the 4/10's?
Is this something that can be done yourself? If so where do you get that tool to connect it, if you need it to connect it back to the dash.

Look on Ford Racing Products website, in their catalogue are gears for matching your rear end ratio, about $10-15 depending on who you get them from. The cable should be there also, if not try your local junk yard.

Also try Mustangsunlimited, follow this link it is about half way down the page around $80.00

Found gear also

I checked out the site. They do have some available. I'm kind of confused though. I have 4/10 gears in the rear and want to match the speedometer up with them. From what they said, i need to change the gear on the cable itself, and also the gear in the transmission? Does this sound correct to anyone?
Also, they have like 2 different gears for 4/10's for the cable......20 tooth and a 19 tooth and than, they have tranny "drivin" gears= 1 for a 7 tooth manual, and 1 for a 6 tooth manual with 4/10 gears. I'm confused because i talked to 2 different sales reps and they both gave me different answers and different part numbers.
I hate to put the wrong cable in or gears.

If anyone has done this, or any input would be great....thanks.

I swapped from an automatic to T5 and just bought the gear, and haven't had any issues, but I am using 2.73 gears.

I think the 7 tooth gear (inside T5) is yellow and is the stock unit, unless it has been changed. Maybe someone can correct me on this if they have more info.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
