First post.
I know this may be on here, but I haven't found it (or skipped it, it's late) in about fifteen pages. I've got a '90 hatchback LX 5.0, and I need some sources for a differential.
Nothing much modded. Electric fan off an '02 beetle, X-pipe, Flowmaster 40 HD's, MAC cai, Running Falken ziex 225/50/R16's. Point of this story is that I lost 2/3 to a (surprised me) turboed '97 civic last night, the one I won being the rolling start and a harsh drop into first. Got home and fretted for about an hour over that. There may always be a Honda that beats me, but I'd rather it not be a sleeper. One tire fire isn't cutting it. On ponies the best I can expect without rubbing is a 245, but both tires rotating would be a bonus. I've heard the Thorsten from an edge ranger would do, but I'd like opinions. Price is, as with all of us, an issue. |

Stupid question but have you had the T-loc rebuilt? That might help with the one tire spinning.

Just bought it, and just learning. I've got about $3k to put in it for the moment, and I want the most bang for my buck. I have rudimentary mechanical skills/knowledge, but I do what I can.
Explain this T-loc? |

long story short, its what makes both wheels spin. And a rebuild kit is about $50 i believe.
Best bang for the buck would definitely be gears. 4:10 gears are awesome but some people prefer 3:73 gears. Those run you about $225 if you get the rebuild kit with the ring and pinion. Then buy you a heads/cam/intake combo from a company like Trickflow for about $2500 and that puts you close to $2800. Installation prices on the gears will run you a couple hundred and if you have never done it before (me either) dont do it yourself. That puts you over $3000, but is the first few things i would do. But if it isnt the T-loc, i dont know what to tell you because it is past my knowledge. Its late, I am sure somebody will jump in here tomorrow and direct you further. |

T-loc and traction lock may be the same thing, but T-loc reminds me of D-loc, some guy from Kottonmouth kings (circa 9th grade.) I've just got to put it in my terms.

I know summit has rear end kits so you get both wheels to spin on command, and it also unlocks the wheels under normal driving conditions around a turn which is a plus for street driving i guess. I'd definetly go with the 4/10's
