car's in the shop

but i don't know how bad the damage is gonna be...

i was taking it to have a clutch/flywheel put in. maybe trans rebuilt. some other minor stuff that i could do myself but don't have the patience for.

anyway, i stopped at a gas station to get a drink on my way. came back out... wouldn't turn over. it's like it just decided to take a crap on me. and it really didn't sound like it was just a dead battery. it sounded like it was binding up. and after i would turn the key back, it seemed to... kinda "settle" i guess. like the engine was turning a little, and then returning to where it was. when i popped the hood, i didn't see any kind of fluid or anything. but the valve cover breather looked like it had some smoke coming out of it. when i popped it off, it was really wet on the underside. smelled like oil, but it was watery and clear.

i'm not the expert on engines by any means, but i don't think that's good.
anyway, i should know tomorrow what i'm looking at as far as how much work she needs.

some of you smart fellas tell me what you think.

Did you advance your timing, or maybe leave the dizzy loose?

i haven't done anything to it. it's been sitting for about a year. i've been cranking it every once in a while and it would start right up with no hesitation. the only things i've done to it are cosmetic. except for exhaust.

ok here's the damage report.

vibration was not being caused by the flywheel, balancer, broken motor mount... none of the ideas i got from anyone. bent crank shaft. apparently, whoever had it before beat the ever loving shit out of it. so, due to the strong vibration, and the guy i bought it from driving it like that for a while, the bell housing is busted up, trans case is broken, and i'm pretty sure the engine is gonna be toast.

not looking forward to my road out of hell.

having to replace the whole drivetrain matters when you can't afford it.
i'm trying to weigh my options. don't know if it's going to be worth it to get this one fixed or if i should,in the words of the late Eric "Eazy-E" Wright, "Throw in the gutter, and go buy another."

all of my suspension stuff will bolt up to a new fox right? i know there are some differences between the 4 eyes and the newer ones. but, do any of those differences have to do with that kind of crap? cause, i might just buy one from this guy at work. his is an 89 in pretty solid condition.

I had a buddy a couple years ago that had a neighbor with an 03 cobra that had a big kenne bell and shit ton's of mods that lost his job, Well his cobra repo'd and him and my buddy took the key broke into this ghetto impound lot and started and drove it through a fence lol. My buddy got the kenne bell for his 03 and his neighbor made a shit ton off of parts and got his insurance to pay out! It was some crazy shit. I'm sure it's luck they could never repeat
