car took a crap!

everything has been running fine on my car and just now i pull up to the house and my foot slips off the clutch and i stall out, i go to start it up and its like the battery is all of a sudden dead, you can hear it try to crank over and then you get the clicking sound... im thinking alternator but it just doesn't make sense b/c i haven't had a problem at all w/ it and i had just started it 10 minutes prior no issue.

take your battery up there too

Make sure you clean up all your terminals and other contacts also after you test your alt & batt

this same thing happened to me not to long ago on my notch. The starter solenoid went out and when id try and start it and it make a click noise. It was so rapid it almost sounded like a machine gun. Ended up jumping the solenoid and it fired right up. Hope you have better luck then i did! I ended up replacing the starter and wires before i figured it was the solenoid!

alternator... it had enough charge in the battery to run... the when you shut it off, not enough to send 500amps to the start... pretty common.. they do that..

when was your last tune up?

i just got back from iraq 2 weeks ago so i havent yet... so are you saying i need to replace the alternator?

i had the same thing happen. mine was the negative cable on the end that bolts to the engine/chassis. a little corrosion with fuck it up

ok so an update... didn't get to really work on it today.. too may erands, i did get in it today and tried to crank it and it actually started, but i didn't give it any gas so it died, i go to start it again and it just sounded like the battery was dying..

battery prob trickle charged back up..

sounds like a bum alternator/wiring..

check for solid grounds and your charging wire. Take it up to advanced and have a battery load test done.. should stay about 9.75v during cranking, then batt is fine.

should charge 13.5v + and above 13 with load I.i. lights and heater fan on

ok so good news, just got back from autozone and it is just the alternator so i picked up a duralast 75 amp alternator for 100 bucks, so not too bad. i get to spend tomorrow doing that.

could be a loose connection somewhere man check everything first before you spend alot of money on parts could just be a simple fix.
