ticking noise...

Its coming from the back of my eninge close to the firewall. It gets lowder a little as I rev it but then it goes away when i get in the higher rpms. I just noticed it today when I was putting dressing my belt cuz it was squeaking. Would this be the lifters? It sounds like its right under the throttle body. Help me out guys
