need HELP!!! 347 question
Hey there!
I have a question I hope you guys can help me with. I had a motor built for my 65 mustang, it's a 91 5.0 stroked to a 347 and I was going to run a carb on it. well, in these economic times, I am having to sell the motor. for reference, it's got world windsor sr heads, and an e303 cam, 1.6 roller rockers and a lot of other goodies in it which don't really relate to the question so I will skip those. My neighbor wants to buy it but he wants to keep it FI and put it in his mostly stock 91 gt. He has headers and an aftermarket full exhaust (I think 2.5 dual with x pipe) my question is, can he swap the intake and everything onto it and will it run ok, or is it going to choke the motor so bad that it will not run. obviously, it will run BETTER with an aftermarket intake, throttle body, and maybe a dif maf sensor, injectors and such. But can he run it that way for a bit till he has the money for the other stuff with out actually hurting the motor in any way. He said he plans to baby the motor for the first couple thousand miles anyways to break it in, so he is not going to run it hard and he is not looking for peak performance right out of the chute so to speak. I am really looking for honest answers as I don't want to mislead him in any way. Thanks in advance for any and all help, Robert

yeah it will run, but its gonna be a pig and not be a fun motor. All an engine is is an air pump. The more air in and out with less work the more power and more efficient the engine is.

That's basicly what I was thinking. He is planning on changing the parts out as he has money, bigger t/b intake, and all that. He just wanted to make sure it would be "ok" for a month or so of occasional driving. he has a truck for everyday driving and just bought this gt a bit ago for a weekend cruiser.
thanks for the input!! I appreciate it. anyone else have any input?? bueller...bueller..lol! |

Sounds like a nice motor. It'll run fine. The World heads are good iron heads, although I'm partial to aluminum heads. The E Cam is a good all around cam and not as extreeme as the F or X cam. I would have gone with 1.7 RR's. Motor just won't be running to it's full potential.
That motor would run great carbed.(Breath dog breath) Like you said, once he gets an aftermarket intake, throttle body, and injectors, he'll get a lot more out of it.
