They were. From 1986 to 1992 if I am not mistaken. They stopped calling them GT Cobra in 1993 when the SVT Cobra came out. They were just like the regular GT's in the states though

If you run a VIN on carfax on a Canadian Mustang like mine, it says "Mustang GT/Cobra GT".
