if a 331 is what you want then go for it, but if the only reason you are going 331 is because its more "reliable" and doesnt have "pre-mature" oil consumption. that is all a bunch of bull.

looks like your going to have a good build tho

the vacuum tree is just another way to get all the vacuum dependent accessories a source of vacuum, if you would like you can remove it but the accessories you keep need to have some source of vacuum, you can just run lines from your upper to what ever needs it.

What do you mean when you mention "per-mature" oil consumption?

one of the myths state that because of where the oil ring is on the piston of most 347 stroker kits, they have a tendency to burn oil sooner then say a 331 or stock 5.0

nothing is wrong with them at all, its just annoying as fuck hearing people rant about the better reliability, better drivability, better longevity, less oil consumption...... it's bs

What clutch are u planning on going with? I am going to replace mine soon and was thinking about going with a king cobra ( not to expensive and i have heard good things) anyone running one? I have a 347 (not trying to say anything about 331 vs. 347) it was already put together and cheap lol. But i put down 310 hp and i want to spray a 75 shot. Will the clutch hold? Sorry for the thread jack just wanted to ask. NICE build tho dude.

It's a 331, bored to a 342. Problem? It's "STILL" a 331 STROKER.

You're sig says, 347 with iron heads. Burn it.

Well, if everyone is done bickering like school girls... anyone, anyone? good, so I'll be picking up the motor from D.S.S. tomorrow afternoon. I plan on running a King Cobra or McLeod. Also I've been cleaning up the engine bay as much as possible. Got the heater core and blower motor out, I'll post pics tomorrow once I get home with the motor.

CAMN89GT- Maybe I'm wrong but maybe 2-3years ago did you used to bring your car on a trailor to a "common meeting ground" named "Strats"?

Glad to hear you have a build and the urge to get it going!

More pix please.

Disregard the whole 331/347 debate. A small block is still a small block. I've seen chevy 327s out run 400 sbc's and visa versa... it's all about the builder, the driver, the skill, not the motor in it's raw form

Cheers

A lot is wrong with it sir........

Must have had a shop build the motor for you....

A 342 is a 4.00 bore 3.4 stroke

331 is a 4.30 bore 3.250 stroke

Unless you have a bore of 4.090 with the 331 stroke of 3.250 ..... Which you must have right...
