Cam install problem...

So I installed new head gaskets, E cam and put back the stock rockers. Got everything back together and now when I start the car, it idles really rough and stalls. It won't stay running by itself. It's not backfiring or anything like that. Any advice?

Yea, I replaced them. If the distributor wasn't set right, would it have these symptoms? I am 99.99% sure I have it stabbed correctly. The car fires right up.

When I put a cam in my car with stock rockers in did the same shit. I used the idle screw to raise the idle, which gave it an idle. At that point it fired up right every time. I then redid my timing starting with piston #1 at top dead center. When I did that and drove the car it finally idled right you could hear the cam, but made no power. Turned out my plugs werent in tight at all. But either way do what I said and it sounds like you'll have a running car in no time..

It's a MAF car. I was speaking with someone last night, and they said that the lifters need time to pump up. The timing is set at 10* with the mark on the distributor and the block. I am gonna check the lower intake tonight... I have a feeling that the rear seal slipped. I got a gasket set with the Fel-Pro blue seals that have a lip on them. Gonna install those tonight and see.

The mark is a factory spot to set the timing to 10* before the motor is started for the first time. It is used for this purpose.

Wrong...good luck with that....

Figure out how to time your car first....then come back and report.

Shouldnt ever do a cam install if you dont even own a simple timing light...

How am I wrong? I will take a photo of this and show you. And who said I didn't have a timing light? Read my OP and you will see that the car won't stay running. Before you give your $.02 you should understand the problem at hand.

lol, since you are messing with me your advice means nothing. i hope you can comprehend the fact that if an engine doesn't run, then a timing light doesn't do dick.
