Intake Question
Ok guys and gals, I have a question.
I found what I believe is an upper Explorer intake in the local bone yard but I am not sure. The casting numbers on it are F67E 9425 BA. Does this sound right and would it be worth getting for $25 ? It is only the upper.

the F is decade (1990-1999) the second number is the year of production. the third charactor is suposed to be a letter. maybe it's 1996-1997 in this case...
. but the part number is an intake manifold. (had to google for that one.)and, i got this book, SHIPPED, from some discount book seller on eBay for under 9 bucks in brand new condition. it's a good source of information. lots and lots of pictures on almost every page too.

What does the last two letter stand for? I tried google also but all I found was "ca" instead of "ba". Does that make any difference?

the last charactor is the suffix. which indicates the revision, or design change, under the part number and pertains to aplication or use of said part. A is original, B is the first revision C... D... so on. it doesn't say anything about BA.... but the last charactor(s) is just stating the revision to the original piece. that's all i got from the book anyway.
found this. Design Change: The Suffix denotes the change level, for example: A = 1st change level, B = 2nd change level, etc. Often this indicates what application the basic part is used for. For example - 9425-A is for a 289 2v motor, whereas a 9425-B is for a 289 4v motor.

So this should be what Im looking for. Correct? And I can probably get it for less than $25. That is the price for a complete intake assembly. But it wont do me any good without the lower intake will it?

you may have trouble finding just the lower. unless you get it from a bone yard also. most folks that sell them have both and want to sell together. but good luck bro.
