My Tranny
I have an 89 gt conv. 5.0 auto. Is the tranny a c6 or c4.
Next I have a 78 ford f-150 with a 5.0 auto. Would this be the same transmission. The reason why I ask is because the one in the mustang is shot and leaks fluid. The one in the 78 as far as I know is in good shape and I would like to swap them. Is this possible. Thanks for any help. |

the 89 has an aod (automatic over-drive)
the truck has a c4 it will swap over but you willnot have overdrive anymore |

neither, its a AOD or AODE. your mustang has an over drive. the truck will either be a C6 or C4. you can google all the information about both of your cars to get more details.

Oh may bad, the truck could have a small block C6 it will also swap be then again no overdrive and c6's are heavy pigs

Ok thanks. Do you think it would be a good swap or should I find an equal replacement for the AOD. I'm looking for something easy. (as few mods as possible)

if you want as few mod as poss. the only choice is to stay with the aod (you don't have an aode) as any other option is easily doable but will require quite a bit of mods

aod's are a dime a dozen. just find one local and throw it in. or just get the aod rebuilt. tell us more about what's wrong with the current one and maybe we can give more suggestions
