Heads for 351W???

I can get a good set of World products Sr heads for pretty cheap and i was wondering what i could expect. or if i should go somewhere else. I have a 351W bored 60 over edelbrock performer intake, 750 holley DP, LT headers, mildish cam. Now one thing thats worrying me is the Sr's 64cc combustion chamber with my stock pistons(17cc dish i believe) i think this would give me somewhere around a 9.0:1 compression ratio? A little low to make any power right? if not what kinda power could i expect? id like the 400 range

right now the heads are some sort of stockers not sure which casting with some gasket matching port work.

i might be wrong but im pretty sure u can make a lot of power on any compression ratio, it just depends on what you doing with the car.

your gonna need a bigger intake and cam to get around 400. go ahead and get those heads. ive heard good things and if you can get em for a good price they should work well with your setup. id definetely see bout gettin a bigger cam and maybe a air gap or victor jr intake or somethin.

just get the heads for cheap, take them to a machine shop and have them milled down to where you get a nice 10.5:1 pump gas compression.

You can run a 9:1 engine just fine and make power. Just remember, for whatever compression you loose, you can add a few degrees of timing even with pump gas to milk a little more out of your engine.

Look into an air gap or performer rpm intake.

I have those heads on my 351 fairmont. Im running 10.5:1. I never got it dyno'd but it runs 11.7@116 pretty consistantly. Im guessing around 400hp

adding 2,3,4 degrees of timing is NOT gonna even come close to making the same amount of power as he would with higher compression. you can just keep advancing the timing out of the same cam.

Wow thanks for all the quick responses everyone. Sounds like im gonna get them. I was thinkin a 3 angle valve job to freshen them up and get them planed down and bump the compression to around 10:1 NOW what about my piston to valve clearances? Stock pistons and 2.02 valves, think i can get away with notching the pistons a little? lol Also anyone got any price ranges for the machine work?

your gonna have to call you local machine shop, make sure you find a good one, and ask them about prices. also they can tell you if the valves will clear. with those specs it should but you never know. and also depends on your timing, how much advance/retard your gonna run.

very true. It wont make near the power, but he can milk a couple of ponies more out of it and still be safe on pump gas.

I'm no expert, but isn't that kind of mild cam for a 351? Hell, even the E cam got more duration and lift on the intake side.
