Need belhousing/t5 info

Helping a buddy with a 66 stang. He's a novice engine builder and after a wopping 152 miles on the 302 we pulled it back out to inspect his work. All bearings are toast. What really cought my eye is the thrust bearing. It has cut a groove into the crank like an 1/8 inch deep. the only thing I can think of is he used the wrong belhousing (too shallow), and it forced the input shaft into the crank. The motor is a 302 from an 88 lincoln towncar, trans is a t5 from 5.0 mustang , don't know the year. Can any body tell me the correct depth of bellhousing, and lenght of input shaft? Or any other ideas of what would have caused such excessive wear in such a short time? I measured his and with a tape measure it looks like just under 7 inches. Thanks for any help.
Jason

Any idea what the difference is? Like dimensionally I mean? And sn95 would be a 1994 or 95 model, correct? Thanks, Jason
