dont run it, just turn it over by hand a few times and it works great, then run oil threw it once or twice before the good oil and your golden

I've used that 10 minute Gunk engine cleaner before in another car of mine. There was a lot of black crud coming out when I changed the oil so I assume it did something. Any fuel product would work through, diesel, kerosene, regular gas etc.. in the oil for a few minutes will clean things up. IMHO, unless you know you have a sludge issue or something making an abnormal ticking noise, I wouldn't bother with it.

How bad is the sludge? If it is minimal you can run 1 qt of automatic trans fluid with your regular oil or use Diesel engine oil. Both have detergents that will clean it up. If there is any excessive build-up your going to have to tear it down. If you are willing to take a chance and are not afraid of blowing it up, I would just continue to run a mix of regular oil with trans fluid until most of it is gone.

pull off a valve cover and see how bad it looks that is a pretty good example of the rest of your engine. Engine flush that you buy is mostly kerosene. I put in a little every oil change and let it idle for 5 min or so and then drain it. Never had any trouble

I have used kerosene a couple of times when I blew head gaskets, and the oil was full of coolant. It works well, however you will want to drain and change the oil a couple times within a few day to ensure the kerosene is all out. The answer is Yes it does help out a lot fore cleaning
