Do they look like these?
 Do they have CHI milled into the front of them? A lot of the cheaper knock offs floating around.

did it backfire and then the valve dropped, or did the valve drop then backfire? it makes sense to me that the problem is in the valvetrain. seen it happen before. spring broke, valve stayed closed and it loaded up and POP. id for sure be gettin better springs and retainers
