thanks for all the compliments guys, i really appreciate everyones enthusiasm over the build, it was a lot of work and took forever, at times i wanted to just quit but now that its almost done (for now until a minitub a 4 link and a blower) it was totally worth it.

Im gonna upgrade or get the whole exhaust powdercoated next year at some point. the price is right on the bbks so im prolly gonna go that route. i always thought the macs were a good quality product, but guess i was wrong. hopefully ill have the exhaust after the swap meet in two weeks. gonna sell ALL my stock shit, hopefully make enough to buy the exhaust and a tune. my 21st b day is that weekend too so hopefully the rents will hook it up.

just got off the phone with Dez Racing in Seekonk Mass. ~$500 for a tune on my stock ecu. said we can burn 4 modes into it with a selector switch, burn out all my codes, etc...just gotta get my exhaust bought and hung and ill be in business. its getting closer...he suggested (much like you guys) that i don't need a full engine mgmt system quite yet. im gonna take his and your guys recommendations.

UPDATE: installed the high pressure spring for my fpr and jacked the fuel pressure up to about 38lbs. car ran GREAT...steady idle, no stalling, better throttle response. I still need a tune and everything, but I was really pleased with how shes running right off the bat. also got nearly all of the exhaust leaks fixed, which means that I can get it tuned and passed through emissions before installing the new exhaust (longtubes with 3" off road x no cats). Downside to all of this is that when my thermostat finally opened up as the motor came up to temp, the water pump stared gushing fluid everywhere. the waterpump was one of the only parts that was installed on my previous motor and then cleaned up and put onto this motor. the peep seals had dry rotted from sitting around for a year, and she exploded. bought a new wp and installed it, looks great and no leaks so far. just gotta break the cam in next. Also, I changed the oil after the car ran for about 20mins total since initial fire up and it was perfectly clear and had no metal shavings it it. definitely need to adjust my roller rockers...valve train is a little noisy at the moment (now that the exhaust has been quieted up you can hear it). right now rr's are set at zero lash but i think they need to be snugged up about 1/4 to 1/2 turn past zero lash.

sorry for the long-winded update just figured i'd let you guys know whats up. takin it for a ride around the block this weekend weather permitting!

LoL about getting pissed for a second.
thanks for the compliment but certainly not as nice as your ride.
I actually just put a fresh coat of wax on her today and have a really big show this weekend so I have been cleaning EVERY nook and cranny the past few days and will continue to do so until the show. I'll post a lot of pics after this weekend
I actually made it on a website too:

so guys...been a few weeks, cars running great thanks to Dez Racing in Seekonk Mass. The guys fine tuned my rocker adjustment, timed and tuned the motor, and threw a base chip in her so i can safely break it in. got the nose of the car back on, and the hood. all thats left is to reroute some wires, and take some slack outta my fuel lines. got all of the leaks outta my exhaust, which is good when i attempt at passing emissions. haha yea right! here are some pics of the car back together and my tow rig...96 f350 powerstroke.

Dude, thats absolutely the sickest thing I have seen in a while! I love the whole shaved engine bay look. Its sick, looks great dude! I have to give you mad props on that!

??? How much did it cost for you to "clean up" the engine bay???

I have access to a welder and bondo so like materials and paint?

Great job

no you don't have to break it in cam wise, but i want to break in the motor as a whole...everything internally is brand new, the chip he installed was just to make sure air/fuel was in the ballpark, timing was dead on etc. I want to put about 500mi on her before I dyno it and tune it for max hp even if its not really necessary.

McMustang 5.0...
costs can range from practically nothing. i.e. bondo, sheetmetal and grindin wheels and sand paper...you could then just rattle can it and be done. I would say there was at most $200 in materials before paint. I had the bay professionally sprayed so it would match the rest of the car perfectly...theres a metallic flake in my paint, and i would not feel confident in my painting abilities to make it come out as "mint" as I require.

Its more about the work involved. it takes foreeevveerrrrr and ever and ever haha. especially if you have never done it before and you are not really experienced with body work (like myself). a lot of stuff has to come out of the engine bay also (wiring harnesses, brake components, steering components, motor,etc...

my project took about 1 solid year of work including the motor and tranny work. Good luck dude. its totally worth it when its done.

thanks guys, and thanks in general for following along throughout the build providing insight and motivation. it really helped out a lot. it is definitely nice to step back and just enjoy...so much that im finding it hard to finish up the little odds and ends left, i'll get there though. the engine tuners said that the motor feels really strong and runs great. which is really cool cuz that was the first motor ive ever build. took her for a ride in the tuners parking lot and it broke um loose right when i got on the throttle a little. i was soo pumped.
