Shafts move, new c-clip's, pin, shaft or all???

Hi Guys need some serious help...

I think i need to replace the C-CLIP in the rear diff and the cross pin as they may be worn this has been discovered while installing a rear disk kit to the car, there is allot of play in the shafts moving about 5mm either way... they are making the disks rub on the inner sections on the anodised part of the calliper... i as aware before when i had the drums on there but changing to disks has made it worse...

ive seen some C-clips the Cross pin to buy but will this be enough to stop the movement, or do you think i would need to buy new shafts too???

I have also seen a c-clip eliminator kit but this fits axle shafts 1.400"dia and is not for street racing or use with rear disks...

Has anyone else experienced this when converting the rear drum to disks???

if someone could steer me in the right direction be very grateful

The axles will move in and out slightly. Just pull the diff cover and pull the center pin out and see if it has excessive wear on it. Might as well pull the axles all the way out and inspect the C-clip grove and make sure it is not worn out to badly. C-clips generally hold up fairly well, but anything can happen.

ok im gonna try the c-clips and a new cross pin... will check for wear too...

the eliminator only states that you can use them for racing use and without disk brakes...

is there any specific reason why i cant use the eliminator???

probably due to the trac lok being worn out. When you rebuild it that sets the end play as the shims in the trac lok move the side gears in or out.

Play in the axles is normal with c-clip rear ends.

Hey Guys thanks for the help with this...

ive had a few people mention the trac-lok as well...

so ordered a repair kit for the trac-lok, c-clips, centre pin...

gonna see how things go with that and also check the wear on the shafts when i take it all out...
