Piston Question

When i put my heads on i noticed that the pistons where marked .040. That means the bottom end is now 306ci correct. Also the pistons had a severe reliefs in them and also a small notch in the far side. What would the notch be there for?

i don't know about the notch but .40 over is a 308. .30 over is a 306. there is a site called faster 50 that makes a 308 shortblock. maybe they could tell you what the notch is. good luck with your build

That notch you saw was probably the direction indicator. They should have been all pointing towards the front.

Thanks a million for the feedback guys. I figured it might be for direction purposes, but the explorer 5.0 didn't have them so thats what stirred up the interest.
