no heat

My car doesn't get past 130 on the stock guage unless I run my car then letting it idle for an hour, then it begins to warm up. I just install a 180 t-stat from mr. gasket, and i still have the stock clutch fan. I know my guage works cause my car overheated, and that how i found out the hour thing. Any idea what might be the problem. I really would like my heater blowing out hot instead of warm.

I wouldn't trust the stock guage for crap. Find another way to check the temperature - an infrared thermometer would do the trick, or if you can find something that goes to atleast 210*.

What does "overheated" mean?

Do you actually blow a head gasket? Was there steam coming out of a hose or the radiator? Or did the needle just go really high?

the needle went high and the overflow hose blew off.

Still doesn't mean much to me. Get something to accurately measure the water going in and going out, then bring us the numbers. There is no way in hell your block is running 130*. My guess would be that your problem is somewhere in the heating system itself.

Is the heater core plugged? If coolant can't circulate thru the heater core it won't blow any warm air. Do the radiator hoses get hot? If they do get hot you know the car is getting up to operating temperature.
