im okay,i guess, just banged up alittle. sore legs, sore shoulders, nice gash on face with stitches and a hand that hurts like hell but not broken. i was headed to work this morn and it was raining but not hard.was going about 25mph. about 20 feet after coming out of a very slight transition in the road(minor curve) car lost all traction. tires dint spin or anything, it just started sliding doing 360's. it started off spinning circles slow but once the momentum built up, all hell broke loose.
the car slid on the street about 100ft, i thought the curb wouldve stopped the car but it jumped the curb and did 360's in the grass another 20ft. and just so happen on the last spin the pole caught the passenger side and smashed it really good. the interior instantly became cramped. i was in shock really bad and was panicking while trying to get out. had to bust the drivers side glass to get out.motor was still running.everything inside the car is twisted and the passenger seat is really pinched.I just thank the Lord it didnt hit on my side or i would have been DEAD. The firefighters that came to the secene said i was lucky to be alive because normally they dont make it on accidents like this. they put me on a stretcher and hauled to the e.r. i was mad at first but now im just glad to be living. |

Happy to hear you are just a little banged up and not dead. From the looks of the pics, it looks like that was some messed up sh*t. Hope to see you in another mustang some day, just hope nothing like this happens again.

Good to see you are ok. Cars can be replaced. Do you happen to live in the south where they are getting all of that freezing rain? I had a similar crash with a similar car back in 1996. It was a red Mustang GT just like yours. However I was drunk and the roads were dry. I found that the more alcohol you drink, the better you think your car handles. I hit a telephone pole at 60+ mph and then a chain link fence. I didn't have a scratch on me but my passenger wasn't so lucky. He was pretty banged up.

actually i really wuz going only 25 give or take a few. but absolutely no more than 30. i wuz going that slow not only becuz it wuz raining, but the police presence is strong throughout the industrial park for street racing.i got a friend that has a 4cyl lx. so he basically has his parts car. then im taking my ponies off and the junker can have it.
i was in the hospital when the tow yard got the car so they took it to their storage. they tried to charge me 125 towing fee PLUS 30 for storage. it got kind of argumentive so the police ended up getting involved. all in all i only paid the 125. then i had to get another tow yard to tow it from there to my house for 40 bucks. the original tower wanted 65 to move it and i said hell nawl.im starting to get sad agin now bcuz it wuz a pretty solid stang that i got for $2000.then i just spent 200 bucks for exhaust right after i got it. the car had no exhaust whatsoever after the h-pipe. right now im under the influence of narcotics. |

i probally wont even think about getting another stang for at least a year. for the time being ill just help my friend work on his.(same satisfaction) i have a 99 explorer and a 98 lumina ltz. i wuz trying to sell the lumina to get my money back off of the stang, but now it looks like im pretty much stuck with it now since i do need backup transportation. so i pretty much took a $2000 loss since i didnt have full coverage.oh well

Wow, how old were the rear tires? I refuse to drive my Mustang in the rain until I get new tires. Mine have at least 5/32 left but are over 5 years old and very hard as I do not drive it much.
Last year, I had a temporary loss of control going around a bend on a wet road at about 30-35 in my Mustang in 4th gear (stock Mustang w/2.73 rear, basically putting at about 1250 rpm). The speed limit on that road was 45 and the bend was not sharp at all. I don't know if I hit some staggered bumps or what but luckily the road has three lanes in each direction and no one was next to me. I was able to correct for the tail slipping out and when all was said and done, I was two lanes over and still moving in the right direction and did not do a 360. Completely unexpected and scary. I don't know if my instincts took over and prevented me from hitting the brakes or I was too stunned. Hey, there are times when that Traction-Loc does not seem like a good thing to have. When it's dry, I could probably go around that same bend at least 80 at full throttle. Luckily you are here to post about it.

You did have insurance right? If so liability would cover that anyway

Typically the below is true but some companies have a little gray area under which condition is covered under what. Comprehensive Pays for fire, theft, glass, and damage sustained while parked or while moving and hitting another non stationary object that gets in your path but does not result in an accident (like you hit a deer that was running in front of you). Collision pays for damages sustained while involved in an accident or you "wrecked", like you swerved to miss that running deer and hit a tree instead, you hit another car at an intersection etc.. You may want to check that with your insurance company though. An example being a cement block that falls from a bridge. If it is laying in the road and you come upon it and hit it, that damage is covered by collision, if you are under the bridge and it falls on your car, that is covered under comprehensive. Same with a dead deer laying there and a moving deer. Seems odd but that is how most companies work.
