I took my heater, evap, and motor assembly out without taking my dash out. pulled it all out underneath. just go at it. theres plenty of hidden nuts under there so look around. once its all out theres enough room to craw up in there.

on the k member question. no you do not, just jack the motor up in the air.ha what do they mean by it "doesnt respond as well"? thats funny. mine took quite a while to install (a full day) but it was by myself and the bolts are stubbors and i did a arms and coilovers too. if you do this i HIGHLY recommend soaking the nuts and bolts in wd-40 the night before. it is worth it.

+1 Kirkey's are indeed comfortable, and they are pretty inexpensive too.

Polly seats, are cheap, light, and cumfy too. You should save about 50-60lbs by switching seats.

And want to get out the Heater shit, but dont i have to take off the dash? really just wondering how much Weight Racing seats really save, if its worth the price and so on. Thanks for the help guys! - Joe.
I had a few sets of Summit drag buckets in daily drivers and thought they were fairly comfortable, even driving long distances. They are 24lbs lighter than factory LX seats....EACH. GT seats are slightly heavier than LX seats. So you are looking at 50+ pounds in weight reduction.

You wont gain a huge amount of ET. Plus if you have to drive this empty can every day, it will get old after a while. Idk, maybe its just me but unless you already have some serious engine/drivetrain mods your gain wont be worth all the trouble lol.

My cousin has been racing his '80 chevy truck... he was using it for a daily driver and had it running a 13.50. Then, he decided to strip all the glass (running lexan) stripped the bumpers, gas tank, dash, speedo, heater box, swapped bench seat for racing bucket, power steering pump delete, windshield wipers, carpet, headliner, tailgate, all the wiring and lights, (probably forgetting some things) but you name it... and without changing anything to the driveline or engine, actually could never get faster than a 13.60... if I had to guess, the engine had so many passes on it that it became "tired." But he did remove a shitton of weight... And now the truck is COMPLETELY useless. lol...
Slower cars benefit more from weight reduction. You can figure a little more than a tenth for every 100 pounds you eliminate so on a stock Mustang you can figure an about 4 tenths for a fairly easy amount of weight reduction. Weight reduction can be huge, that is why most classes have strict weight limits and strict penalties.
