We don't have mountain roads around here but I would have to agree with that statement!!

No, not really. Though I do have the "convertible top cover" I might be willing to part with. But that's about it.

Using Auto Trader and eBay for defining a cars market price

I kinda agree with that. I think when you're researching a used car and you want to define the market value of said car, better than KBB is to check Auto Trader to see what others are asking for it. While KBB will put you in the ballpark, I think the Auto Trader is a better gauge for pin pointing a cars market value than KBB is. Also, using eBay in conjunction with Auto Trader might be a good way to determine a cars market value.

Ford did not manufacture verts until about 1989 or 1990. Before that Coupes went to a business called Cars & Concepts in Detroit where they were converted to verts. I own an 88 5 spd GT vert in similar condition and I paid $2,500 for it.

Cars and Concepts was in Brighton MI, and sold out to someone else and that company was taken over by several different companys over the years so it is hard to get info on them anymore. Ford Never built a Fox vert. They were all sent out until 94. My source is a book called ultimate mustang by Pactrick Covert. I have several other books that give the same info.

Sure you can. Anything is possible with the right amount of cash. You would need everything from the hood line up. Everything is different or cut including the windshield. Its shorter on the verts.

The info on Cars and Concepts is 100% true. I dont think ford even offered a rear quarter panel for a vert as a replacement since they didnt produce such an item. Im not possitive on that though. I looked at some of the parts i have left over form a vert i used to own (windshield trim and other small parts) and they dont have ford part numbers of the ford stampings on them anywhere, and ford marks everything.

2k sounds about right. If you cleaned top with some vert top cleaner and sanded down the rust and spot painted afflicted area you would probably get more hits in the 2.5- 2.9 range. All it would cost you is about $20 and a couple hrs of your time....just my 2 cents

Well, considering it's been over a year since that post, maybe less
You should check the date to make sure it's a current thread before you post... The date is on every pic too...... WOW

Yeah. I just purchased a pristine '93 GT Vert.

I paid $4000 and the car was in pristine condition. 100% stock, everything working, great interior (although i have since switched it to all black vs. opal gray), and not a drop of rust anywhere. Just had to upgrade the usual stuff like weather stripping, window motors, and the infamous gangster seat lean. Even had completely new brakes and a new exhaust - cat back. And brand new tires and new convertible top too. (Although why they put a stupid white top on it is beside me)

However, looking at your car - it doesn't even come close to the condition mine was in.

So, if i had to guess, maybe $2k.

How are the other items in the car (interior, seats, door fitment, window motors, etc...)???

EDIT : Crap, you're right - that is an old post. Who the hell resurrected this one?

I could not hang with the red stripes. I took a heat gun to them.
