selling my mustang soon :(

pretty soon I will be getting it out of the garage and doing the last few things needed to get this puppy sold. I thought Id post a thread and share. I live in smyrna ga 30080, its all original inside except some minor bolt ons added like flowmaster 3chamber, A hurst shifter (looks stock), timing adjust ment, and other little stuff.... The engine has never been overhawled. I did replace the head gaskets I believe.

I repainted it, redid all the black molding on the windows, the quarter windows are new. The weather stripping all around is new. The interior is like new besides a bit of wear on the driver seat side where I get in and out of the car. No major stains in the seats or carpet, the interior plastic dash and middle console is great. I replaced the middle console and the cig lighter door works, everything works inside, the door locks sometimes dont register but if you hit the button a couple times it comes to.

New frnt lights. New grille behind the hood. The hood and front bumper are replacements. I hit a car and dented the original hood. This hood came off a black car. It fits nicely on this car, and some adjust ment could be made if its a bit off. The release cable for the hood is a bit worn, I have a replacement I think, just not installed. The front bumper is new.

The car had nitrous 125 shot on it, but it never gave me any problems. No engine noise or anything.

I havent started this car yet, its been in storage for a long time. No, actually, I DID start the car, but didnt let it warm up. I recently rebuilt the trans and just put it in. Got all the sensors for it, and now it starts up. Only thing is, I havent added trans fluid yet. This is what I will do this week probably so I can get the car started again and moved out of the garage where I can finish the things needed and get it sold.

The car should start up and run fine. But, since its been sitting there may be a few things I have to look at. Whatever it is , it will be fixed or mentioned when I sell it. Anyways, hopefully you guys can help me, Im not real good with cars, though I love them.

few questions:

do I need to look at the oil level upon starting it up ? is it possible the oil has dried up?

anything I should do before I start it , to make sure it isnt damaged?

is the correct trans fluid for this car auto ATF sythetic? This is what my brother was told by a mechanic. I will check with ford dealership just to make sure though..

I guess I should replace the oil filter huh? do an oil change on it? make sure its full with anitfreeze.. that stuff..

Well here are some pic-

Well, looks like my pics are too big to fit in the attachments so I will get them up later.

Ive got the original shifter knob still

Ive got the wheel caps

I will have more pics later , when I pull the car out and do stuff to it.

What should I do about gas? should I drop the tank or sifen it out or what? I think I put gas treatment in it when I stored the car.

Im about to put the tranny fluid in it, got full synthetic . I will refer to my haynes manual but does anyone have tips on how to do this? I know its gonna be awkward being under the car (on jacks).

Nice car, did ya get to start it yet? I would change the oil, and check all the levels just to make sure, but it looks great.

If ya have started it, does it seem to burn any oil or anything?

How many miles are on it, i would say it looks like you could get 4K out of it depending on the mileage but looking good man! Too bad ya cant keep it

only thing thats wrong with it is it needs a radiator. this one has a crack in it, that I soldered back so It would work. but it needs to be replaced.

also, I cut about a inch off the front springs .

I think the rear hatch is giving me problems, .. trying to get it to shut right. Ive tried a different hatch lock, but that didnt work.

anyways, .. I m trying to get it to shut, maybe its the new weatherstripping, or the hatch striker. well see...

I will be very honest about this car, it isnt original, as you can tell, Ive put new paint on it, and other things, but the car should run tight, even though I dont think it will align with the lowering springs on it. I think I need camber caster adjusters.

The inside of the car is really nice. and so is the out. well see how it runs...

IM really trying to move forward, so even if I didnt need the money to pay off debt, I would probably sell the car and if I get the mustang bug later in life, I will probably look for a notch or a 93 cobra!

I had an 89 LX identical to that car!

It will bring $4000 if its as nice in person as it looks in the pictures. You might have to sit on it for a while though the way the economy is right now.

change the oil before starting. i'm not sure about the trans fluid my performance shop changed mine when they did my clutch. when a car sits for a long time and the temperature changes alot moisture builds up it is a good idea to change the oil

if you want to do synthetic in the tranny you can use syncromesh. That's what I use in my car and I love it. I even read an article that some guys are using synthectic motor oil in t5's but I'm not sure about that.
