i dont care about controlling the brightness though...

In that case wire it right in... What series guages do you have? I have the C2s and I definitally need a dimmer for those at night.

the directions said 18 gauge so thats what i bought

No Im asking about what series you guages have( Sport comp, NV, Lunar, Cobalt, C2, ect.. ).
