Car keeps blowing fuses

Number 13 and number 4 specifically, 13 is where i tapped into for power to my gauge pod. If i put a 15a fuse in number 13, it blows number 4. I put a 5a in number 13 like im supposed to, it immediatly blows when i put my lights on. WTFN

And this all started after you hooked up your new gauge?

Disconnect the gauge and try a new fuse. Could be a short in the wire or inside the gauge itself if the fuse doesn't blow with the gauge disconnected.

well since both are in direct relation to instrument cluster illumination and 4 blew when you put more amperage through 13 id say when you drilled something you might have exposed a wire to something, either way you have a short or direct ground on a positive somewhere in your panel, where did you mount this gauge at? what is the gauge for?

have you tried removing the lead and tryin a different source for power? maybe too much draw on the fuse circuit? its obviously something with panel lights though, anything else stop working? radio/courtesy lights? maybe the guage is grounding itself out, does it still work without the lights operating on it? im not an electrician but im just tryin to go through the steps and maybe help you out somehow...

no prob, but if the gauge is grounding itself out it wont operate correct and will jump around and shit when fuse blows, or lights are turned on...good luck!

I has the same issue you did. Did you wire it into the dimmer switch and fried the switch, which kept blowing fuse after fuse when I was replacing them. I'm willing to bet I would say you probably did the same.

Sorry I was drinking last night watching the game when I typed that out. I dont know for you specific situation as everyone wires everything different, therefore having lots of different outcomes to problem. I was messing with my problem for weeks trying to figure out what was wrong, finally I just got one of those circuited fuse jumpers from mac and pluged that fucker into the fuse whole and sure enough smoke started coming from my dimmer switch. Swapped it out and everything was fine for about 6 months till I smoke that one as well... Then I quit fucking around and just bought this :Auto Meter well worth the $20 to eliminate the hassel.
