Head and Intake question...

Im looking at getting a set of Edelbrock Performer Heads (part# 60379) and a Performer Intake(#3821). Is this a good combo with a stock bottom end? This is to go in my 88 speed density car.

I was really more curious as to if they are a pretty decent set up. Are the better than say a combo with GT40 / P heads and Explorer Intake?

This is my first attempt at after market upgrades so I do have a few questions.

1. Will these bolt up without any modifications
2. Will there be any piston to valve clearance issues

And Im sure I will have others.

If the performer heads have the 1.94 valves they should work but if they have the 2.02 they will not work without flycutting the stock pistons....

AFR heads with Holley Systemax intake have made the greatest HP gains on stock bottom end 5.0s!

Well the prices are a pretty good steal. Less than half of retail.

Well... If I con get the heads and intake for $500 would that be better than a set of GT40P's and explorer intake set up? I know there are better combos out there but for the price I think it would be dumb to pass it up. Am I correct? Let me know guys because I really dont want to waste what little bit of money that I have.

If you can get those heads and intake for 500, I would jump all over that...

I agree totally

If you can pickup the edy stuff for super cheap go for it and resell them for better heads or just use them. They'll be much better then the gt40 stuff but aren't in the same league as most of the other aluminum heads out there in terms of performance.
