Vortech "suggests" that one of their kits on a completely stock engine should make about between 275 and 330 RWHP (I assume that is 6-8psi). If you leave the things in your list that actually make a significant difference in power over stock, 7 PSI and that power level seems a little closer to what you got considering the E7 heads. Maybe the port and polish on them was not much of an improvement? Things like the MSD ignition, A/C bypass, adjustable FPR, gears, clutch, etc... are great and maybe needed to provide "support" for the SC and maybe get you down the 1/4 faster but they are not making any additional power on the dyno. What rpm was your peak HP? I would guess somewhere in the much lower 5's.

after doing some research the heads are not even E7's they are stock heads/stock springs yadda yadda off of a non HO 5.0 thunderbird WTF, thats why its fell flat on its face at 5100......with those shitty heads and 20 something year old springs, i'm a little upset to say the least.....

What type of heads does the TB even have? I don't know the history on your car or engine but it sounds like someone parted out the heads, stuck god knows what on there and sold it. Makes you wonder about the rest of the claimed mods though. Oh well, the good thing is you have the foundation and other supporting parts, In theory, through some combination of heads and boost, you could get a nice set of used heads for $1000 and a pulley for $40 and add 120-150 HP, nice bang for the buck.

In that case then you dynoed just right. My setup did 350 with the nastiest belt slp making 7 psi in 4th gear. But it was on a much more conservative dyno then the dyno jet. If your on a budget get some gt40ps and other explorer crap. I can't remember if you were cammed or not. But that should put you in the right direction

well i'm scrapping the heads obviously, and if the pistons are fly cut (like they are SUPPOSED to be) then i'm goign to go with a set of afr 185s, if they are not fly cut then i'll grab a set of cnc ported 185 twisted wedge heads and call it a day.....its got an f cam in it now

That would make me wonder if the pistons were ever fly cut if they had those shitty heads on there. Afterall why would you bother doing all that work if you put on crappy stock heads that dont need the clearence?

But maybe like said earlier he took off all the good shit. Why not consider some Canfields if your going to get AFR 185's? Im not the best Mustang guy but dont the stock AFR springs suck ass? Im sure someone more knowledgeable like Mustank will chime it but i think ya might be able to get a better bang for your buck. But who knows. Anythings better than those stock heads though
